Bug Description
Some unethical services are being supported by pastebinit which impact privacy and usability. Different users will have a different idea of what's unethical or what will cause them practical problems (e.g. if they're using Tor), but the tool should at least inform the user so they can make an informed decision. In particular, the -l option plainly lists the services with no additional information. I suggest -l output give:
Supported pastebins:
- cxg.de
- dpaste.com (blocks Tor users)
- fpaste.org
- lpaste.net
- p.defau.lt (uses Amazon AWS)
- paste.debian.net
- paste.openstack.org
- paste.pound-
- paste.ubuntu.com
- paste.ubuntu.org.cn (uses CloudFlare)
- paste2.org (uses CloudFlare)
- pastebin.com (blocks Tor users and uses CloudFlare)
- slexy.org
- sprunge.us (non-existent, and previously used CloudFlare)
Non-tor users quite often use pastebin.com and they're totally oblivious to the fact that tor users among those they share the URL with will be blocked. It also has some intrusive ads. It's unsuitable as a default.
When a user decides to use a CloudFlare service, the output should include a warning about the consequences.
I'm on the fence about whether to tag this report as a security vulnerability, because CloudFlare is indeed a privacy abuser and users are unwittingly subjecting themselves and others to that walled-garden through the use of pastebinit.
