Bug Description
iTerm has a feature where code with tabs can be converted into spaces. It would be useful for keeping things consistent and when editing text in any cli editor (nano, emacs, vim, etc.) The only issue would be whether it should offer to "remember my choice" which could create a setting that kind of should be user accessible in case someone accidentally chooses the wrong option. On the other hand removing the "remember my choice" option would get annoying, for example, when someone is following a tutorial and is copy and pasting many strings.

I think this is out of scope for a terminal, but is rather the concern of the editor itself (emacs, vim).
