And the remove printer button doesn't ask for confirmation. It just deletes the printer without any question. It may be useful to ask for a confirmation.

And although it takes 5-8 seconds, there is no (fake) progress bar or hourglass mouse cursor. This can be confusing.

Afaik the printer plug is actually a gnome-control-center plug. Could you try in gnome-control-center if you experience the same bugs there?

Hi,

No, I have just tested and gnome-control-center uses system-config-printer utility. And that works just fine.

I have also found some other issues with Switchboard's printer plug that makes it impossible to add network printers. (https://bugs.launchpad.net/switchboard/+bug/1083205)

I hope that this printer plug will get some nice treatment and love... :) ... or the system-config-printer utility will be added as a replacement.

Unfortunately these GCC plugs are just an unmaintainable hack that we're planning to replace in Luna +1 anyways. So marking as won't fix.

However if someone comes along with a fix in the meantime, please feel free to let us know about it :)

While there is no fix, why don't you replace the current solution with system-config-printer? It is already installed and available in elementary and works great.

I know that it can be ugly to open in a new window instead of the embedded System Settings window, but it is much better than the current plug.

We'll replace the current plug with system-config-printer, that's what Ubuntu do by the way.
