Viewing transparent PNGs always displays black background

Bug Description
When I view a transparent PNG in the image previewer, it always puts a black background behind it. Instead we should probably show a checkered background behind transparent images, unless PNGs have a hint for the background color they expect.

As an example, the image previewer is useless when trying to check this image, for example, because the black text shows up on a black background.
