Long message is truncated

When I read a very long message, Mail truncates the message so that not all of it is visible.

For example, I receive a daily digest from Logwatch installed on a server I manage. The digest can be thousands of lines line when viewed as source (which, curiously, shows the entire message), but only about half of the email is displayed in the Mail window.

I'm tempted to blame this bug on webkit2gtk.

Is the email content sensitive? Would you be able to attach a cleaned version of it?

Sorry to take a while in responding. I've attached a cleaned version of the source of the email. In this particular message, the content stops displaying after line 2747 (following the closure of the "From 123.249.0.134 - 4 packets to tcp(1433,3306)" table row).

Although I imagine this would be a separate issue, sometimes these Logwatch emails result in an all-out crash of Mail. If needed, I could open a separate ticket the next time I get a message that causes a crash.

In the meantime, I've since installed Loki on another computer (an early 2008 iMac). After copying my ~/.config and ~/.local, I brought up Mail and saw that a message that was truncated on my first install was displayed in full on the iMac. I've yet to figure that one out.

I'm suspecting the drivers. Try and see if you can find a computer with a similar graphics card to the one where it truncates the message.

Maybe you can try and load the message in Epiphany, and see if it yield similar results? Epiphany uses the same HTML rendering component as Mail does.

I have a lack of computers on which to try out this particular bug, so at the moment I'm limited to my Dell laptop with Intel graphics and the old iMac with AMD/ATI (using the radeon driver).

Opening the email I attached earlier in Epiphany renders the entire message completely. In fact, I have the same message opened in Mail (with incomplete render) and Epiphany (complete render) at the same time.

Is there more information I could submit to help narrow down the cause?

Right. Maybe there is one more thing, can you do a "apt show pantheon-mail" and confirm which version of Mail you have? It might be that you have the version of Mail which doesn't have the same HTML rendering engine as Epiphany, in which case it would explain the difference and it would also mean the bug was fixed a while back.

If you have the newer version, then that is truly puzzling.
