It seems the fix applied last week for this only works partially.

I'm experiencing an issue where the greeter occasionally becomes completely unresponsive when the desktop is locked. Not just the password text field but the entire interface with the only exception of the mouse pointer. The only way to get access to the system is to switch to a TTY.

The issue regarding the missing focus is still there. It only happens occasionally (after the fix) but still happens. The original ticket with some new comments: Bug #1520815.
We would love to have a full fix for this.

I have the same problem and the input box does not get focus even if I click on it. My solution is to press down arrow and then up arrow to get it work. Please fix.
