Bug Description

If I have an executable script or an executable binary and I click it, they do not run, but rather, they are opened in a text editor.

Do you get a run option as the first item in the context menu? If not they are not being recognised as executable. Check the Type column in List View and the mime-type and permissions (executable bit) in Properties Window. I have no trouble launching shell scripts and .desktop files for example by clicking on them using the current trunk.

There is also a pending branch lp:~jeremywootten/pantheon-files/fix-1099194-execute-script-in-terminal which is waiting for a terminal branch lp:~jeremywootten/pantheon-terminal/execute-in-terminal-desktop to be merged. This will give an additional option to launch a script in a terminal.

I do not get a run option on the script. Although, now it seems I do get a run option on the executable and its icon has changed to show an executable, so perhaps it takes a while until it picks up that it's an executable?

The script file does not have a .sh extension.

When navigating to /usr/bin most of the files there I can not execute with files, event thought they are marked as executable (obviously)
