By default, the file chooser _does_ display a preview - Unfortunately, the underlying technology does not handle blank spaces in names well (read: cannot handle it all) and therefore, the preview fails to display. Afaik this is a bug in our technology stack which will fix with later versions of GTK (so, maybe in our next release).
