Scrolling lag when there are lots of image

How to regenerate:
1. I have a directory contains 1500 .png images. All images are small ( < 1.0 MB)
2. When scroll using mouse pantheon-files lag. Also cannot generate thumbnail (I report this separately).

Please confirm which view you are using and whether there has been any improvement since the release of Files 0.2.4.

Are the image files on a remote drive? Or another slow medium?

I'm not sure if this is related, but for me any thumbnail generation makes scrolling hang. That is true for both images and other file types. Seems like the thumbnail generation happens in the same thread as the rest of operations.

Confirmed that Files struggles with large folders full of images, in icon view. When tried with a 4000+ images copied from the thumbnail folder (the thumbnail folder will not thumbnail itself) scrolling was very slow for newly revealed icons. However, List view and Column view did not suffer from this problem. As they share a lot of the thumbnailing code the problem probably lies in the Gtk.IconView widget itself, which is slow to redraw. Either this needs to fixed upstream or a different widget used.
