Hi viaimepdita,
I tried putting an entry into fstab to mount an smb (cifs) share on another computer on the local network and (after restarting the computer) this mount appeared under "Devices" in the Files sidebar. Admittedly this was an anonymous share so I did not need to worry about passwords. Plugging in usb thumb drives caused an corresponding bookmark to appear in the sidebar (unmounted). So your problem appears to be fixed in Loki.
Could you confirm whether you are still experiencing this problem under Loki? Thanks
