Bug Description
When viewing a folder in grid view there is a lot of seemingly unnecessary whitespace below each icon

Can this be split into two separate issues? (1) Excess whitespace and (2) Clicking on whitespace does not activate.
In the second case I am not convinced what the correct behaviour is. It seems to me that clicking on whitespace should not do anything substantial.
