Bug Description

I have the problem that newly created files don't show up automatically in Files. I can't refresh view manually either. I expected shortcut F5 to refresh view manually.

View is updated only when I change directory on pathbar and click the corresponding directory again.

Bug filing goes into two directions:
- is it correct that no automatic refresh is done when content changes?
- is it correct that no manual refresh is possible?

I'm on a uptodate freya OS

I have the same problem I hope to fix it soon because it doesn't refresh at all and there is no manual refresh and the files manager is very slow in moving files too.

I found out that this problem occurs since rev.1618, when something changed in ViewContainer's reload() function...

I find this occurs in Icon View only. On creating a new file, the file should appear and be selected for renaming. I'll check it out.

A fix for this is now committed.
The manual hot-key for "Reload" in FIles is Ctrl-R , not F5

I have the same problem again, seems to be reintroduced in rev. 1638?

Re #6
Confirming your observations, files is in terrible shape ATM.

@mporten I am getting inconsistent reloading behavior with r1639 (which should be the exact same as 1638, since it was just translations updates). Basically, when I first open up the application the thumbnailing fails to work correctly and the auto reloading (and manual reloading) fails to detect new files. If I switch to a new directory all is good (even when I switch back to the first directory). This occurs with new tabs and new windows as well.

I can confirm that this bug as re-appeared in r1639 but I have not identified the cause yet. I have linked a new branch that is nearing completion that does not suffer from this bug.

I am observing the same behaviour. Additionally, I recognized after refreshing/renaming/entering the newly created folder, that Files had moved files from a sibling folder to the new folder. I am sure that I didn't have these files in clipboard.

I still have the bug, but know only when I try to paste folders ( I'm on beta 2)

OK, this happens with folders above a certain size - which is probably why it wasn't picked up during testing. I have set the bug back to confirmed
