Files misplaces icons in grid view and crashes after that

Bug Description

Pretty often, Files diplays icons incorrectly - they aren't arranged in a nice grid, but there are empty spaces. Although, all of the icons are shown, but it takes much more space to display them. Also, Files is unresponsive in this state. When you try to select something, it freezes for 1-2 seconds and after that - crashes.

This is really strange and severe.

Does this happen when changing directories or do icons suddenly dissappear?

Also, are all files and folders inside visible? Or those blank spaces should really be used by items that currently can't be seen?

Does it still happen? Can it be reproduced? or is it completely random?

I think it still happens (I'm talking about Luna), but it's from my memories. If I see it again, I'll post about it here.

There have been significant rewrites of the icon code since Luna. Needs a new report from Freya.

This is quite odd and serious.

Does this occur when you switch folders or do the icons just vanish?

Are all of the files and folders inside visible as well? Or should objects that aren't now visible truly make advantage of those empty spaces?
