Bug Description

Steps to reproduce:

I have 2 windows of files open so I can copy files from one to the other.
Left is opened in /home/john/stuff
Right is opened in /home/john/stuff/pictures/last_summer
The right window is active and I hit the backspace key to navigate to /home/john/stuff/pictures/ ->everything ok.
I hit the backspace key to navigate to /home/john/stuff/ and the left window blinks (the icons disappear).
The same happens if I navigate to /home/john and open the folder "stuff"

This vlinking behaviour is a bit tedious.

This does not seem to happen now (rev 1687), possibly due to the Vala rewrite of views. Please could you confirm whether this is still an issue?

Its improved but not gone. It still happens for me on some filders, but not on others.
At first I thought the blink only happened when I went back to the folder I had open in the second files window, but then it started to flicker no matter which folder I opened.

Is there any pattern as to which folders it happens with? Local, mounted, network etc? Containing lots of files or not? It sounds like the view is being reloaded unnecessarily - this would cause a flicker.
