Bug Description

This would be an excellent feature to have. This way, one doesn't have to enter the details every time they want to connect to server. Also, I dont see any use for the "Remember Password" checkbox in the "connect to server" window if there is no bookmarking option for the server locations.

If someone can mark this as a wishlist rather than a bug, Thanks..

@pranavkaranjkar the feature you describe already exists. After you connect you server you simply drag&drop folder to bookmarks. If you want password-less login you can use public key login or enter password in .ssh/config.

Any ideas how to improve this, design team?

Perhaps we should automatically bookmark when you connect to a server?

This is a regression, because last time I tried it worked.
I tried in July, but, sorry, I can't be more detailed.

Granted, we're over a year since this bug was reported... :( ... but I have been digging around for a way to bookmark network resources since I connect to other file servers many times a day, both at home and at work. I do not see any sort of 'bookmarks' entry in Pantheon Files in its current form on Luna with all updates applied, so I assume that option was removed (...!?) at some point.

A workaround I found that seems to work is to add the entry to .gtk-bookmarks. Open Pantheon Files, show hidden files (CTRL + H), and open .gtk-bookmarks in scratch (fyi I had to go to open with, other applications, scratch). Add the full path on a new line to the network resource you want to bookmark. For example, I want a bookmark for my Samba share "Storage" on my server "Pluto", so I did...

smb://pluto/storage/ Pluto-Storage

Seems to work great. Again, this is just a workaround. The ability to bookmark network shortcuts should definitely, definitely be more straight forward. Here's to hoping this gets crunched... cheers!

In Loki, it is possible to bookmark network locations using Ctrl-D or (in most cases) with the context view context menu. It is unclear whether this is sufficiently "more obvious" to satisfy the reporter but I will mark it as fixed for now. It would be possible to add an option to create a bookmark to the connect server dialog but it would be better to create a new bug for that now.
