Bug Description

Panda3D-1.7.0 and python 2.6.6 on fully patched XP SP2 32 bit
Most samples work but Teapot-on-TV causes python to crash.
The crash seems to be caused by line:
        altBuffer=mainWindow.makeTextureBuffer("hello", 256, 256)
The sample worked for me before I upgraded from Panda3D-1.5.4.

I've now de-installed Panda3D 1.7.0 and installed Panda3D 1.6.2 which includes python 2.5.2, but the crash still happens.

Do you have the latest version of your video card drivers installed?

I've applied the latest chipset update:
Chipset_Intel_5.00.1012_XPx86W2K_A
from acer.com to my Acer TravelMate 240.
The only video driver download I can find there is
VGA_ATI_6.14.10.6422_XPx86
But when run its setup it says it can't find any hardware to update, so as far as I can tell, I do have the latest video drivers. In any case why would that matter now when it doesn't for the other samples and didn’t for teapot on Panda3D-1.5.4?

I'm now on Panda3D-1.7.0 with Python 2.6.4
The command window after the Tut-Teapot-on-TV crash contains:
:display(error): Window wouldn't open; abandoning window.
d
:display:wgldisplay(error): Could not share texture contexts between wglGraphicsStateGuardians.

Unfortunately so far there's not been anyone who's been able to reproduce this issue. It is likely to be caused by buggy drivers on certain outdated hardware, and without a reproduction case or a stack trace there's not a whole lot we can do.
