Bug Description
The installers from Panda3d.org have maya2egg converters, but not always maya2egg for the most recent version of Maya. Since Autodesk puts out a new release of Maya every year, it is a hassle to keep up. Many users are forced to upgrade every year, though - for example, students and universities, because Autodesk only makes the most recent version available under the educational license. So while sticking with e.g. Maya 2008 is a reasonable choice for many studios, perversely it's something that colleges often can't do.
The good news is that maya2egg will build and run fine using the 30-day trial free download of Maya. It will also build and run fine without setting up licensing, so there's no need to purchase Maya.

All right, I'm downloading the trials for Maya 2013 for Mac OS X and 32-bits Windows, I'll see if I can extract the SDKs from them.
