Bug Description
When a window with horizontal scrollbars at the bottom is maximised, then the "thumb" does not appear at the inner part of the window, but still at the outer part.
I have included a screenshot. You can see a few pixels of the thumb, but not enough to grab it.
Note that I use Mint (and therefore a gnome panel). Maybe it's because of the gnome-panel that ayatana doesn't detect the screen borders. But still, since you can use gnome 2 in Ubuntu, this should not happen.

@Sander: which version of the ayatana scrollbar do you use? can you confirm this bug with the last version?
