MidEastPlus route Class 105 dmu

Pop up requesting me to report bug. I have been having a heck of a lot of problems with the dmu's supplied with the MEP release.

Too summarise, this report is in regards OR crashing before the activity starts.

Other problems i have experienced are, incomplete dmu consists, both player and AI in game.

The dmu power car engines running at start of activity, but then when i select a gear they shut down and unit will not move.

Also gear selection then does not appear to work properly.

Hi Mike,

Very glad you're working with Mid East Plus and trying it out in OR.

Pete Peddlesen said recently that testing with OR was never part of the release plan, so there are bound to be issues. With such an important route, I think it's vital that we get on top of them quickly.

I had better order my copy of MEP today, so I can help with bug-fixing. Do you think it would be a good idea to start a public thread dedicated to MEP running on OR?

Hi Chris,

brilliant route & stock release.

I have been waiting years for this to come along and as i only run OR now (no native MSTS).

I think it would be good for all users, if we could get to grips with the problems.

Not that much interest for MEP on trainsim.com forum, which is where i post.

I have been banned from UKTS forum for years. 😊

There are definitely a few problems running MEP with OR.

So i will leave the decision on a dedicated thread in your hands.

Hi,
I'm a bit confused here - there is the log file saying that there is a problem with the ENG file, while your further description says that you have some problems with the gearbox feature.
I'd suggest you to look at the line as the error report says:
Error: System.IO.FileLoadException: C:\MSTS\trains\trainset\MEP-Cravens105\MEP-Cravens105.eng ---> MSTS.STFException: "(" not found - instead found ")" in C:\MSTS\trains\trainset\MEP-Cravens105\MEP-Cravens105.eng:line 227
I think you can easily find the problem with your ENG file by counting left and right brackets. So let's focus on the other issue:

If you want to solve your issue about gearbox causing your diesel engine shut down, please attach the ENG file at least, or better give me a download link so I can reproduce your problem on my PC. Without this, I'm afraid I cannot help you. There can be two possible problems: wrong diesel engine settings vs. gearbox settings or missplaced or missing brackets what leads to wrong settings loaded.

I'm waiting for the data from you.

I only submitted the bug, because a pop up asked me to.

I cannot send you the .eng file as it is copyrighted as part of the MEP dvd release from UKTS.

OK, but please understand that only following options we have:
1) It's maybe the easiest way to blame the modeller that his work is good enough for poor physics of MSTS, but it's not compatibile with ORTS advanced physics. We are trying to keep this MSTS compatibility, but we cannot do it for all 3rd-party models, because of many weird "features" of MSTS, where you can set power on wheels to 10 MW, even if the diesel is only 100kW, etc. (please see this link: http://www.elvastower.com/forums/index.php?/topic/23709-manual-gearbox-observations/)
2) We can together ask the modeller to send us the model for testing purposes, with some kind of permission for ENG modifications to match the ORTS needs. For this option, it would need your help with contacting the modeller. Maybe he would not be interested.
3) You can forget about this particular locomotive and "create" a very similar ENG file with the same issues you've described. We don't need 3D model - ENG file is good enough. You may have doubts about this way of copying, but I say that you can create your own ENG file based on your research and your data. And if the data set is the same, the ENG should look very similar.
4) I can guide you to edit the ENG file, but since you don't want to send the original one because of copyright, you may be unable to edit someones's work because of the same reason. Then we're going back to the option 1.

For now, I'll wait for your answer and possible data, while the status of this bug report will be still marked as "incomplete" for the next 60 days. After that period of no activity, the bug report will be deleted automaticaly.
