Bug Description

ovreplicate and any similarly high-level utilities should be ported to Python for better maintainability.

Why not port the utilities to M? Given that there is already a GT.M, it would make sense to use it. For example, in our own automated regression test suite, we are slowly changing use of awk, grep, etc. to GT.M programs and program fragments. The %XCMD utility program makes it very handy to write programs right in the shell command line.

Thanks for the suggestion. The utilities that we are planning to port are at the user level and actually have minimal interaction with the MUMPS side of things. Python has a broad range of useful libraries more likely to suit our needs.
