Bug Description

Hi!

I've read through other bug reports with similar issues, but this seems to be a separate bug.

I've been having strange problems with Karmic. (I've never really had any problems with Ubuntu on my laptop since the dapper days).

Specs:

Acer Aspire 5633wlmi (5630 series)
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5500 (1.66 GHz)
256mb NVIDIA GeForce Go 7300 w/Turbo Cache
2GB DDR2 (support dual-channel) RAM
BCM4401-B0 100Base-TX
Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG wifi

I've done the following:

-Upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10
-Fresh install of 9.10 x64 and x32
-install via wubi (ubuntu installer via windows)
-install openSUSE Gnome 11.2

But no matter what I do I end up with the same errors:

-blank gdm screen (ugly brown background after the white ubuntu splash screen) for about 1-2 minutes before I am finally prompted for my password.

-upon every login I am presented with errors on various panel applets such as mixer and indicator.

-power management shows no battery tab and loads after 1-2 minutes upon clicking in the systems > preferences menu.

-other application like update manager, gimp and the terminal are slow to respond and lag.

I am dual booting with Windows 7 x64 and have no issues. I've run several memory diagnostics with 0 errors,

When I'm stuck at the blank gmd screen (as described above) i can login via ctrl+alt+F1 but even the tty1 appears sluggish and text lags as I type.

try pressing alt+ctrl+f1, then login, type "sudo killall Xorg", then press alt+ctrl+f7 to see any errors that might be causing this issue.

Hello
Is this problem present with the latest updated Karmic's, Lucid's or Maverick's packages?
Thanks in advance
Fabio
