Bug Description

I believe the Networking configuration options section in the OpenStack Configuration Reference manual (icehouse) contains an error.

URL is http://docs.huihoo.com/openstack/docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-reference/content/section_networking-options-reference.html

  report_interval = 300

      should be

  report_interval = 30

You're accessing a 5 months old document on a site outside of the OpenStack organization ;(

the current document for Juno is at:

http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-reference/content/section_networking-options-reference.html

The value for report_interval is indeed 300, please check the neutron file ./neutron/services/metering/agents/metering_agent.py for the default value.

Hi Andreas.

Sorry... When googling to solve an issue I had, I came upon that document and didn't realize it wasn't from the official OpenStack site.

That said... I'm running Icehouse and documentation for it also states the default value for report_interval is 300 and according to ./neutron/services/metering/agents/metering_agent.py on my system it seems to be 300. However, I'm running in DEBUG mode and according to the log files in /var/log/neutron the current value is 30. This matches the commented line in /etc/neutron/neutron.conf and I have not changed it.

The following comments in neutron.conf make me wonder even more...

# Seconds to regard the agent as down; should be at least twice
# report_interval, to be sure the agent is down for good
# agent_down_time = 75

# seconds between nodes reporting state to server; should be less than
# agent_down_time, best if it is half or less than agent_down_time
# report_interval = 30

If this is true why would the default value for report_interval be 4 times larger that the default value for agent_down_time?

Was this possibly a bug in Icehouse which got fixed in Juno?

Thanks,
Ernie
