Bug Description

This page lack any concrete instructions about the way to migrate from ovs to ml2 plugin.

At least (as far as I found up to now), for ml2_conf.ini, section [ovs] should contain notices about external network mapping.

For flat networks:
network_vlan_ranges = external
bridge_mappings = external:br-ex

We can't provide concrete instructions for all scenarios due to the variety of network configurations.

The guide says about reference network topology, described here: http://docs.openstack.org/icehouse/install-guide/install/apt/content/neutron-initial-networks.html

There is 'ext-net' and 'ext-subnet', but the is no information about how to conigure ml2 to get traffic to 'external physical network'.

This is a problem - there is no way in _ANY_ configuration with real network that this guide will works.

Hi George, you're comparing the uncomparable. Here's a mapping:

Ops Guide RHEL architecture uses neutron and ML2:
tenant_network_type = vlan
allow_overlapping_ips = true
tenant_network_type = vlan
bridge_uplinks = br-ex:em2
bridge_mappings = physnet1:br-ex

Install Guide Ubuntu architecture uses neutron and ML2:
type_drivers = gre
tenant_network_types = gre
mechanism_drivers = openvswitch

and more... so there's just no way to do a one-to-one match for the Ops Guide architectures and the Install Guide(s) architectures, sorry.
