ssh example to new instance fails

after launching the new instance, these instructions say that you can
access the new image by "ssh instance-ip".
but after following the instructions, my attempt
failed with "No route to host".

while i realise that networking is stupidly hard, you should realise that
your average reader will have no idea what to do when this fails.
at the very least, this section should talk a little about the possibility of failure
and give some pointers for help on debugging.
for example, it might point at the manual for ensuring your kvm image booted correctly
and is connected to networking.

By this time you are beyond the scope of the installation guide, and into operations.

Please see http://docs.openstack.org/ops - it has the network troubleshooting section.

Also - any reason you're working with havana? Icehouse is much easier in this respect - check it out.

maybe it is a gray area, but i believe that if the installation instructions
say you can test something by “ssh blah-blah”, then it ought to work.

in any case, thanks.
i am only working with havana becaus ethat is what teh documentation pointed me at.
where would i find the icehouse install guides?
