Bug Description

Stock configuration files provided with distribution packages inconsistently enable verbose logging. Some services provide little (if any) information without enabling verbose logging. Consider explicitly enabling verbose logging in the configuration for each service to assist with troubleshooting.

This one is a tough call, I could go either way. On the one hand you have some services which produce spartan log activity by default and only give any hints when verbose is on. On the other hand some services give enough detail by default and when you set them to verbose pretty much flood your drive.

Would recommend a discussion on enabling log rotation if this is to go ahead.

So, which services have good logging, and which have bad? What levels would you propose?

For testing the initial installation, I suggest enabling verbose mode for all services until the first instance launches successfully (including optional services). Once satisfied with operation, I would recommend disabling verbose mode for all services.
