Bug Description
A new nova virt driver was released in the Havana driver called docker. There is a section on configuring this driver in the config ref docs here: http://
However from an admin/config perspective what is not indicated is the networking models supported with the docker driver. In particular as I understand (I'm not a docker developer) the docker driver only supports the LinuxBridge based networking. Thus if you are using the OVS plugin or something else for neutron, networking with docker will not work.
IRC chat for reference:
<boden> just to confirm what appears to be the obvious -- the openstack docker driver only supports linuxbridge networking correct? so if I'm using openstack neutron with open vswitch I'm out of luck for the docker driver
<jpetazzo> boden: that's correct; the nova driver will only support the basic networking model. however, there are 3rd party tools to integrate containers within other topologies (but those tools aren't integrated with openstack yet). you can use them but won't see proper status etc. in horizons and other openstack apis
31<boden>30 jpetazzo thanks... any plans to make the net support statement more obvious in the openstack docs (i.e. http://
<jpetazzo> boden: good idea but to be honest I have no idea how to make it happen :) /cc samalba
31<boden>30 jpetazzo -- I believe an openstack defect for doc/ID team
31<boden>30 I can do that
