Intel SATA disk not recognized during install

Bug Description

Dell Poweredge sc420 with SATA. It is an Intel chipset with 2.8GHz P4 and on-board SATA.
Install CD boots fine. Installation proceded to a point where it saids "No partionable hard
disk is found" and stopped.

Install CD is Ubunto 5.10 Release Candidate.

(Dennis: hardware detection is largely done by the kernel, with help from
hotplug. The installer just looks for device nodes in the filesystem)

Please attach the output from the "dmesg" and "lspci" commands. You should be
able to get these by booting the live CD, or from the installer by pressing alt+f2

Why did I label a Debian disc "Ubuntu"? Stupid me. Sorry guys, this bug does not apply to Ubuntu.
I tested the and the problem is not there.
