Bug Description

The version of Galera in grizzly is 23.2.4 and in grizzly-proposed is 23.2.2

A puppet run in the controller with the grizzly version(23.2.4) gave the following error
err: /Stage[main]/Galera::Server/Service[mysqld]/ensure: change from stopped to running failed: Could not start Service[mysqld]: Execution of '/etc/init.d/mysql start' returned 1: at /usr/share/puppet/modules/galera/manifests/server.pp:92

I didnt see the above error in the puppet run, when I installed the galera package version(23.2.2). The puppet run was successful.

I can't reproduce this -- I see 23.2.2 in both grizzly and grizzly-proposed repos. We had gone to 23.2.4 initially but reverted several weeks ago -- I wonder if you got a stale older galera somehow?

Can you do an apt-get update and then do an apt-cache policy galera and paste the results of that and a list of the repos configured on your system (/etc/apt/sources.list.d/*)?

Further poking turns up the 23.2.4 in at least some transport mechanisms with our cisco (not cisco_supplemental) repo

I think this may be an artifact of moving galera packages to the supplemental repo during the development cycle. Check out:

http://openstack-repo.cisco.com/openstack/cisco_supplemental/dists/grizzly-proposed/main/binary-amd64/Packages

Which shows version 23.2.2. But:

http://openstack-repo.cisco.com/openstack/cisco/dists/grizzly/main/binary-amd64/Packages

Shows 23.2.4-1. So it looks as though there's a stale definition hanging around in the cisco repo. In some circumstances it might get installed over the version in the supplemental repo, so those packages need to get removed.

packages were manually pulled from the ftp repo.

Turned up as a complicating factor that our ftp is over quota which is why mirroring to it was incomplete. That issue is still being worked but the galera / mysql is manually removed from ftp in the mean time
