cinder-volume log missing

Since the switch from containerised cinder-volume service by default to cinder-volume on a host by default, the AIO no longer has the cinder-volume log.

eg: http://logs.openstack.org/67/213467/1/gate/gate-os-ansible-deployment-dsvm-commit/ab4aa89/logs/aio1-cinder/

This makes debugging difficult and needs to be remedied.

I can't recreate this - I have setup an AIO and it logged normally without any intervention.

I have done two AIO's with the same result - it all works as expected. This seems to be something that only happens in the gate checks?

I mean, this is definitely reproducible, it's also clear that cinder-backup.log sometimes isn't created. It only happens on hpcloud servers at the gate. We'd need someone with an account there to spin up a similar flavor and see if they can figure out why cinder-volume and cinder-backup aren't creating logs.

Since Clark mentioned that HP Cloud servers have a different flavor, I wonder if we're running out of disk space before cinder-volume can create it's log file. (I can't imagine getting a flavor with so little disk space though.)

We capture the disk space as part of the instance info before we do anything, during and after. Disk space is not the issue as far as I've seen.

This is resolved as the gate does contain a cinder-volume log
