Bug Description

Hi,
I have a bug not only on the 1.4.0alpha but also on the 1.3.0 installed on a Natty 11.04 64 bits by PPA when I 'am using a recent project.

Impossible to change the project. I have always the last/first project open. When I open a project, it is perfect.

I can't reproduce this, either in 1.3.1 or 1.4alpha.

Have you got any other applications that use the gtk recent manager? Can you try those?

Just Firefox Empathy, Nautilus and Clemetine. As usual. I must said that I
don't see why but I can reproduce it each time now. A regression in the
previous release perhaps ?

And I have this problem on two machines both with Natty 11.04 in 64 bits.

Unfortunately, no. A screencast should be better but Screencastor is not
running on Natty. :-)
I informed his author about this, it seems to have a problem in the packet
construction. And I have nothing in console. So I know that confuse like bug
and how to reproduce it..
I'll see if I can have something with Kazam

I can confirm this bug, switching projects with "Recent Projects" menu option doesn't work. Tested with Openshot 1.3.0 and 1.4.0-alpha on Ubuntu 11.04 (64 bit) , Dutch language. I never noticed this before because normally I use the "Open Project" menu option to open a project. How can I tell if an application uses the gtk recent manager?

French language for me but you know already that :-)

I'll have to try and set up a Natty environment to test this out. My guess is that this must be something to do with the GTK version in Natty - I use Linux Mint 11 which has version 2.24.4 of GTK and it works fine, can you see what version Natty has? Maybe there has been change in the way the recent manager works in a newer version which we need to code for, or maybe there's a bug in GTK itself, or the pygtk bindings.

@Joop - any app that has a recent files option could be using the gtk recent manager (although it might be using it's own methods, so it's probably a stupid question as you as a user have no way of telling :-) ), so it would be interesting to know if you get anything like this on any other app.

Joop Mevissen (jm) wrote :

I also have version 2.24.4 on my Natty installation (and also GTK version 3.08 btw). I don't see such behavior on other apps so far, only on Openshot.

Some extra info: opening the first project via "Recent Project" works, then if you try to switch it fails. I see the timeline flicker for a moment, but the clips don't show up on the timeline. The clips of the first opened project are still visible and they are not being replaced with the correct ones.

Exactly the same thing and the same result than Joop. And nothing in the
console. We 'll say that the project will open but nothing happen, we come
back to the first project opened. Strange bug. The only thing that I note in
the terminal is "New Sdl consumer Autosaving..." but it is normal.

Ahhh I must said that I have not thing to that. And yes, I'm using Unity 3D.
Thanks for finding this issue.
I'm not sure that we could do something for the moment. And I don't know if
we should open a bug report on Ubuntu on this issue.

Well this is a strange one - whether you use the recent file items or the Open Project menu, they both call the same open_project function. Whatever Unity is using must be causing a conflict somewhere.

I'll keep looking at it, but it's likely this one will have to wait for the GTK3 port.

Heh, finally I found an application which uses the gtk recent manager (Brasero) and it shows the exact same behavior. So I think it's safe to say it's an Ubuntu or Unity bug, because with classic gnome there are no problems.

Thanks for finding that Joop. I guess we need to try and find if there's already a bug report for this somewhere in Ubuntu.
