Hi Again,

OK, last night I used OpenShot 1.3.0 alpha, and it performed much better
than 2.2.1. but I still had a problem. First for the good, the pointer and
line that follows the timeline behaved very well and stayed aligned with
each other in comparison to 2.2.1. Also, when clicking on various parts of
the timeline, the pointer positioned itself much quicker. I was able to
drag to the timeline 372 clips which was about 1 hour 57 minutes of video
which I was able to play normally and the pointer did not disappear this
time when playing the video. The response time was greatly improved when
bouncing around throughout the video. This time I did not create any titles
but I will with my next tests.

The problem I had was that I couldn't import 372 clips all at once. I think
the same problem is still present from 2.2.1. I waited over 20 minutes and
OpenShot was hung. I then tried importing 100 clips at a time, clips 0 to
100, then 101 to 200, then 201 to 300, then 301 to 372 which didn't work and
hung OpenShot. I then tried importing clips 0 to 200 which worked, then 201
to 300 which worked and then in increments of 10, I imported the remaining
clips 301 to 372 which worked. I then drug each clip to the timeline making
a total video of about 1 hour 57 minutes.

One other minor problem, I was not able to successfully open a project in
1.3.0 alpha that I created in 2.2.1. I had to create a new project for
1.3.0 alpha.

I did not import clips 0 to 103 from the second memory card this time. I
wanted to see if I could just work with the first memory card's video clips
which would give me almost 2 hours of video. Tonight I will continue
testing and this time I will import all the video clips from both memory
cards and see if that makes a difference and creates any problems when
OpenShot has to work with video clips that have the same ID.

Hi,
Thanks for this big test, who is interesting for us, because a major part of
us have not yet so much of rush in AVCHD. And when we are testing they are
not so long than your test.
Be careful, using the zoom bar which give a crash with the timeline pointer
(=the play head).
Could you test with the last development version (1.3.0 alpha) who brings a
lot of correction (same if she is an alpha don't exempt of bugs). I think
that you could be benefit for you.
Don' t worry, it is without danger for your system and you can keep the
"official " version. It is a big advantage of Python. No compilation is
needed.

  Problem creating 2 hour plus video

  Congratulation for a great video editor!!! Here's my objective. Using
OpenShot 2.2.1 on Ubunti 10.10. Camera is Panasonic ZS7 shooting AVCHD lite.
1) Problem importing 200 clips at one time. Successful doing 100 at a time
then after 200 clips were imported, I needed to back of to 25 at a time. It
seemed to take too much time trying another 100 clips after 200 clips were
imported. I was able to successfully import 372 (0000 to 0371) clips from
one memory card then another 103 (0000 to 102) clips from a second. 2)
Problem with the small icons with each imported video clip. I had two
memory cards, the clips were imported from both of them and the second
memory card had clips 0000 through 103 which was the same id as the other
memory card's clips. The actual video was correct but the small icons from
the second set of clips displayed on the first set of clips. 3) Problem with
the 300rd clip. At about 1 hour 26 minutes when I added clip 300 to the
timeline, the timeline pointer would disapear when I tried to view any of
the video. It would disapear about 2 seconds at the beginning of the video.
Also, OpenShot started crashing. Also, earlier, the timeline pointer and
it's line would become out of sync with each other. The line seemed to be
on video but it's pointer was to the right of the line and when the line hit
the center point of the timeline, they would become aligned. I had to
eliminate clips back to about 1 hour 10 minutes then OpenShot seemed to
behave enough that I could continue with the video in two parts, about an
hour each. I had previously added a title at the beginning of the video and
I was not able to go back and work with it. When I selected the title I was
not able to bring up "Font Properties" but I was able to bring up both "Pick
a Colors". I deleted the title and created a new one. No problems with
exporting to DVD and creating a DVD from it. The video is about one hour 12
minutes long. I will continue with the next 1 hour video. I don't know how
many people try to make a 2 hour plus movie but I think this was a good
test. Please let me know if more information is needed. I am at work and
quickly wrote the above. I hope it isn't too confusing and please E-mail me
with any questions. Thanks for a great video editor and I hope this makes
it even more amazing than it already is.
