Bug Description

Hi,

Each time I try to add a vidéo in the .mp4 format, openshot complitely destroys the colors (preview and rendering).

See attached file as example.

Here are my details:
Ubuntu 15.04 32 bits
Openshot 1.4.3
Melt 0.9.6

Hi
Usually, this issue comes from your version of MLT but there was a long time ago.

The solution is to update Mlt using this faq : https://answers.launchpad.net/openshot/+faq/1861
However, I'm not sure that will resolve your issue. I don't know why but I suspect an issue with your i386 version. Why you don't use the 64 bits version ? an Hardware problem ? If you can you should...

Another track. Did you get this issue only with mp4 or with all types of files ?

Did you use ffmpeg or his fork i.e libav or avconv ? .

Try this faq : https://answers.launchpad.net/openshot/+faq/983

I am encountering this exact same problem. A few details which MIGHT be helpful to those doing troubleshooting:

1. I was using Lubuntu 15.4 fully updated and everything was working fine. I was able to edit videos and export them. They looked okay.
2. I updated to 15.10.
3. After updating, every video I create has this false color effect, plus every video project I had previously created now has the same problem if I try to preview within openshot or re-export the video. Videos I had previously exported while I was still running 15.4 can still be viewed with Gnome and still look like it did before the upgrade. As previously stated, every video exported now, after upgrading, has the false color effect.

All three event conditions listed above occurred within 2 days of each other, and the only change to my system was the 15.10 upgrade.

Clearly something got "upgraded" to include this new "feature" where false color is forced on every video.

Has anyone verified that the distribution is distributing the correct versions of everything?

I am postponing attempting any of the fixes listed above for a couple of days in an effort to be helpful. What information about my current "buggy" system configuration would be helpful for someone to know before I attempt any of the above fixes? (noob on Linux, but I follow instructions well. Please give good instructions on how to gather any information you might want me to provide. I'm not even sure how to look up what MLT version my system is currently running... although I haven't tried to look that up yet.)

Thanks for all the hard work everyone does on all this stuff.

I'm also affected by this bug, with exactly same symptoms. This also seemed to occur after update to 15.10 No idea what to do now :(

I tried everything recommended here. Nothing helped.

There was no response to my previous query.

I figured, why struggle?

So I simply uninstalled Open Shot and installed Blender.
Check YouTube for good tutorials about how to use Blender as a Video editor. It works better. Best result I could have asked for. Wish you the best.
