Hi Firewalker,

How do you get a functionnal version of Openshot Qt ?

Neither Andy neither me we are able to get one functionnal ?

Did you have compiled it yourself (and not with pacman) ?

BTW: I've introduced there are a while and for this version especially a model bug report here : https://answers.launchpad.net/openshot/+faq/2197
Could you use it please ?
It will be clearest for us.
Thanks.

Changed in openshot:
milestone: none → 1.5.0
milestone: 1.5.0 → none

Ah I've forgotten something important. I think that she comes more from Liboepnshot than Openshot qt. But I'm not sure . I've seen yesterday night that the last version/revision was the 420. Try again please. We never know.

Someone doesn't have to compile Openshot. Just clone openshot/2.0 and run launch.py.

The issue is still present with r420.

Is the code on bzr the code the developer has or is it old revisions?

Ya know I'm aware. I've worked on the Qt 2.0 since we have had access to
this one at the end of January until the 1st august 2014. After, I've been
busy at home until recently.
My question was not for openshot qt but for libopenshot. BTW, did you have
the list of dependencies installed , I would like to compare with mine.
I've updated/reformated my HTPC and install a Manjaro (an archlinux
derivated) and Pingyos a ubuntu derivated and linux mint 17.2.

>>>The issue is still present with r420.
Ok

>>>Is the code on bzr the code the developer has or is it old revisions?

At first look, no. it is the last even I've not checked on my laptop. I
speak about openshot qt not for libopenshot. To my mind , the last version
has not still been published.
The github code seems to not be updated and it is just a mirror not
updated. Damage.

1) Python 3.0+ (http://www.python.org)
2) PyQt5 (http://www.riverbankcomputing.co.uk/software/pyqt/download5)
3) libopenshot: OpenShot Library (http://www.openshot.org)
4) FFmpeg or Libav (http://www.ffmpeg.org/ or http://libav.org/)
5) GCC build tools (or MinGW on Windows)

If the version we have access has nothing to do with the version the lead developer works on, then we should not bother reporting bugs.

A word for the lead developer would be useful at this point.

Also if this is the actual code, I am afraid that the project will need at least one year (If not abandoned) before being a useful video editor.

It is the same so that fine that you could report bugs.

I'm agree with you.

I had the same conclusion like you and it is why we (Andy and me) are
taking things in hands (following our free time of course). There are a lot
of things to do even with this version of our framework. All this time
spends now could be win later.
And we are gnawing our break i.e. this wait is awful.

Has anyone manage to communicate with Jonathan? What is his intention for Openshot 2.0? He has shown images of Openshot-Qt working, but after seeing the code.... I don't know.

I think I will leave this project to Rest in Peace.

Shotcut seems very promising and the communication with the main developer is Excellent.

Until the last year, we communicate perfectly. No now and I'm not able to
tell you why. Andy is in the same situation like me.

Tell me you do you have installed Liboepnshot/what softwares did you have
used to get into succes on Archlinux ? My last attempt was a chess last
year. But successful on Linux mint. Like my main system is
Archlinux..........
And I would like to understand why I install them with pacman it doesn't
work. That's annoying.

I installed libopenshot-audio-bzr from AUR normally. I use yaourt, so:

yaourt -S libopenshot-audio-bzr

After that you have to install libopenshot-bzr. It wont build by default though. You can use yaourt to download the AUR build packet (yaourt -G libopenshot-bzr). Run makepkg in the downloaded directory. The building process will fail. You must edit two files.

src/libopenshot/src/bindings/python/openshot.i
src/libopenshot/src/bindings/ruby/openshot.i

You must remove the 25 first lines (wrong commenting with #).

Run makepkg and after the compilation, install the created packet.

Download Openshot-Qt:

bzr lp:openshot/2.0

Enter 2.0/src and run launch.py

This is what I did.

Ah ah I understand better why it was not working using the usual way. BTW I
wasn't knew the command yaourt -G XXXXXXX

Thanks a lot. I'll tried to do that at the end of the next week and if
that's work on my laptop. That's great I could develop directly on OPenhsot
and not create/develop on some others gui for implement some functions. You
avoid to loose a lot of time on my dear Manjaro (a derivated of Arch).

for python (and at first look same thing for ruby) those :

Strange it is some comemmts normaly not taken by the program at least in
Python but I don't think that 's not different in C++

Thanks fiewalker.

Do you mean the first 25 lines of:
src/libopenshot/src/bindings/python/openshot.i
and
src/libopenshot/src/bindings/ruby/openshot.i
must be deleted so that first line in each file is "%module openshot"?
 Thanks.

Let's hope Jonathan is actually working behind the scenes to make openshot a success story despite all the delays.

Patiently awaiting that day! Cheers.
