Bug Description

It would be nice if the user could add own tile URLs that follow the Google tile naming style (the same that OSM uses). For instance, I maintain my own map style at http://hikebikemap.de which I would like to use in opensatnav. The tile URL in this case would be http://toolserver.org/tiles/hikebike/ - maybe it could be added by default in the meantime (it covers the whole world).

I think this would be nice. I think it would be great if we provided more choices for map styles + a user-friendly way to show them. Our simple list preference will not be easy to use if we have a lot of map choices. If we made a UI that provided map categories, user-entered maps and a preview pane that would be cool.

As an aside, how does hikebike compare to OpenCycleMap?

The competition over at RMaps also uses a simple list and has lots of maps for selection - while it's not the nicest interface, it does the job.

With hikebikemap.de I don't want to show bike or hike routes on the map (maybe as an overlay), but provide cartography that is better suited for that audience, and play around with map rendering like that alpha hillshading thing and the "by night" style. Also, the style files of OCM are not open.
