Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

This bug occurs in the current official Jaunty OpenOffice Writer (openoffice.org-writer 1:3.0.1-7ubuntu1) and the OpenOffice 3.0 for Intrepid available via PPA.

When dragging a window over the Floating Frame, trailing garbage is left. This is similar to what usually happens when a program freezes, except that it is only in the Floating Frame, not the whole OO-Writer window.

To reproduce:
Insert->Floating Frame
Set "Contents" to "a" (or other file that does not exist), and Click OK.

You will then see a small dialog titled "OpenOffice.org 3.0" saying "/a does not exist". Click OK. The dialog will appear a second time. Click OK again.

Now drag another window over the floating frame. Notice that it leaves trailing garbage.

I can't reproduce this problem, what video driver are you using?

I don't think both video drivers have the exact same bug. However, dragging a window over the the frame will not be sufficient to trigger the bug if Virtual Effects are enabled as this compiz does not send redraw events to applications.

 If Virtual Effects are enabled, you'll have to e.g. scroll down in the OO-Writer window until the floating frame is occluded, then scroll back up to witness the bug.

I see it now, I had compositing turned on in metacity (not compiz) which was why I didn't see it before.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
