Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Hi guys, for first thing excuse me for my english and if I'm allowed to ask you, but I have already called on dozens of forums but anybody know give me an answer.

I'm a italian boy and I use cups-pdf daily on my office; I use ubuntu linux from January 2007, now I installed ubuntu 8.10.

From November I have a problem with cups-pdf and openoffice, I explain better; I use all package of the repository official respectively

cups-pdf: v. 2.4.8
openoffice: v. 2.4.1

If you create a file named for example "10.odt", write in it, save and then print with cups-pdf for generate file .pdf, the name will be "10.pdf"....so all ok, it work perfectly.
But if you have a file always named "10.odt" that draw some data for example the post address from a database (I use openoffice-base), write in it, save and then print, the file will be named "sv8x.pdf" or other names at random.

I also tried openoffice 3.0 but the result is always the same...and also ubuntu 9.04 beta but nothing changes

As well you know generating dozens of file daily becomes a very mess rename by hand all file.

The bug is in openoffice, when internal rename of the file when accessing a database. CUPS-PDF just uses the name given by OpenOffice. ...repeat I happens only with the database...
Or is guilty of the package of the ubuntu repository? Never isn't you happened?

There's a solution? because before it has never happened.

I hope to hear soon

Thank you very much and excuse the trouble.

Use "Export as PDF" instead it works much better anyway.

No Chris, that function can not be used, because if you export directly to file PDF in openoffice using "Export as PDF", instead of printing postal addresses it will print the string of recall of the database, for example:

the address to be printed is: red street, 14/20 Rome

using "Export as PDF" the result will be:

<address>

I hope that I explained

Thank Guly

Can you please try reproducing this problem with the official openoffice.org at http://openoffice.org/ then report this bug upstream at http://www.openoffice.org/issues/query.cgi as the problem is hard for me to reproduce it would be better if you worked with the OpenOffice.org developers directly on this problem. After reporting the problem in their bugtracker please attach the bug number to this bug report. Thanks!

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
