Bug Description

I have some ooimpress presentations stored in odp format. These were generated with OOo2.2 or OOo2.3 if I remember correctly. The presentations use Stone Sans throughout -- note though that Gnome states the font is called ITC Stone Sans whilst OOo lists it as Stone Sans.

Already existing text renders in the correct font. Amending an existing element causes rendering in the correct font. Copying an existing element and amending it causes rendering in the correct font.

Creating a new element causes the font to be listed as Stone Sane but rendering occurs in a font that is not Stone Sans -- I assume this is the default sans serif font.

I am using OOo 2.4.1 on Ubuntu Hardy (2.4.1-1ubuntu2)

This is a blocker to use of Stone Sans with OOo.

Do you have this same problem with Sun OpenOffice.org? I don't have the font to test with myself.

I only have the Ubuntu OpenOffice.org. What do you need me to do to try the alternative?

Getting an instance of a font of this sorts costs about $25, is there no expenses fund that could buy this for you? I would have thought Canonical should have a fund to enable maintainers to undertake tests for this sort of blocking bug.

And I must reemphasize this is a blocking bug: the OOo font handling is not allowing me to use fonts that render fine in Gnome. I assume OOo has its own font handling rather than using the Gnome one (because is need to be platform independent.

Let me know what you need me to try and I will see if I can do the needed experiments.

I think that this problem has gone away in OOo 3.0.1 and OOo 3.1.0 -- at least I can use my ITC Stone Sans fanot in these versions of OOo.
