The file in the upstream report does crash openoffice.org 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 but it seems to work for upstream 2.4.0, so this might be a ooo-build issue.

I could not make calc crash with the file with updated OOo.

Do you still have this problem with the new version of OOo in the ppa at https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive ? Or if you are now running Jaunty the version in it.
