Well yea, and the default theme in OOo also differs depending on what desktop (Gnome/KDE/etc) you are using. Also OOo does not use any Gnome icons internally as they have their own themeing engine.

In Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu, OpenOffice should use in its Options the icons from the default desktop theme, not its own icons.
The icons that are currently used in Options are the same in Gnome and KDE.

Saying it should and actually going through and rewriting OpenOffice are two different things, and yes it would take a fairly significant rewrite to do this, this is almost definitely a 'won't fix' bug but I will leave it open for now.

There are only 10 or so icons that should be overwritten so it's really not a big deal.
These should be some consistency in the application and with the default desktop theme.
For the same thing, you cannot have one icon in the application's toolbar and a completely different one (which looks like it was designed in the '80s) in the application's options.

It is unlikely that this will change for Lucid, but thank you for reporting it. These icons will be updated in Maverick Meerkat. If you have any other icon gripes, please report them at https://bugs.launchpad.net/openoffice.org-human-icons

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
