Please explain. Why should OpenOffice not include the Human icon style?

Because Human Icon Style has being dropped in Karmic Koala 9.10... Isn't it?

Well there is at least to my knowledge no replacement icon set to use... so if we drop Human we go back to stock OOo icon theme which is even more divergent than Human is.

The decision to switch to Humanity was only made ~1.5 weeks ago. There isn't enough time to fix this for the Karmic release. Let's aim to include Humanity in the Lucid release.

These icons need to be included in the Ubuntu Open office package or in Humanity theme?

IMO it has been always a separate *.deb package for OpenOffice

Yea its part of OOo itself, if someone in the art group officially requests it I will drop the Human theme, but to my knowledge we have no Humanity icons at all, so the icons would look much different. Eg look at what openoffice.org-style-galaxy looks like.

Are there already humanity icons for OOo?
If not, it should be done first before removing Human icons from OOo. Is
there a bug report for the creation of humanity icons for OpenOffice?

I think there are not humanity icons for OOo. Probably we have to report a bug/wishlist against humanity-icon-theme.

Wow, I just downloaded the OO.org debian source package, and my eyes started bleeding. My sympathy to Chris for having to deal with that thing for all of use!

Any ways... If someone is interested in working on this, I suggest branching the openoffice.org-human-icons bzr branch as a starting point. My impression is that humanity already includes most icons that would be needed. Most of what needs to be done is the tedious task of rendering the icons at the correct sizes and following OO.org's naming scheme.

I've done some replacing for the Standard toolbar in OpenOffice. Not nearly as much as I had hoped, but my university workload was heavy this year. Anyhow, Chris says that the changes will be ready for the next Beta.

Currently, the best way forward is to continue modifying the human+tango branch. In the future, we should only have a Humanity branch and a Tango branch. No Human, and no Human+Tango.

Vish (vish) wrote :

@Munchkinguy: Since the folder colors have been updated there is a mismatch in the folder colors.
Also , the save and save as icons are different colors[yellow instead of green] , seems you have used the Karmic icons to fix this?

Also , you might wanna have a look at Bug #569401

Oh no! This is similar to Bug #559965. I did not notice this because I am partially colour-blind. Chris, because this is a genunie bug, would you be able to release a fix if I made some changes by tommorow?

Munchkinguy,

I think it already too late to upload before the release as it is in less than 4 days. I most likely will be doing an update for 10.04.1 with OOo 3.2.1 so if you want to prepare an icon update for it that would be fine.

Sounds good with me. In that case, you can ignore the merge proposal I made hurriedly a few days ago. I will continue to make changes with the goal of eliminating all of the old Human icons.

Ok sounds fine to me. I am not sure when the 10.04.1 upload deadline is but sometime before that would be good.

Ahaha, it's always good to get things done before the deadline. Please tell me the date when you find out.

Chris Cheney (ccheney) wrote :

Well the 10.04.1 release date is July 29th. So I think I would need it before July 8 at the very latest, the earlier the better though. This should give enough time to try to get the SRU approved. Hopefully OOo 3.2.1 will actually be released before July 8th.

there is another problem in ubuntu 10.04 with its themes that affects openoffice; border lines are clearly marked so I propose to remake its default theme for ubuntu 10.04.1 and make it look like this:

no you are not understanding me. this is how I want it to look like: http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2010/133/7/1/Orange_by_Muy_Bien.png in ubuntu 10.04.1 because the actual one has some visual issues with open office:

do you see border lines at the bottom of openoffice window when it reads: sheet 1, sheet 2 and sheet 3 and it isn't just there you can see them everywhere....

Let's go for a cleaner desktop
