Bug Description

Hi,
We are not able to backup OpenERP database using OpenERP client on windows. We can create new database which means the super admin password we are trying is not wrong. To drop or backup database we have to use pgadmin.

Version of server and client us 6.0.1 stable version.
Version of windows is Server 2003 R2, Standard Edition, Service Pack 2.
Please provide a solution to successfully backup and restore database using openerp client.

Thank You.
Mohammed Jabir

I am confirming the issue as we are not able to back up the database while using all in one exe for windows.

Thanks.

Hi Azazahmed Saiyed,
We downloaded Source tarballs, Release 6.0.1 from openerp server, not the
all in one Auto-installers exe.

Hello mjabirk ,

Can you try this alternative, as there is surely a problem that the server is not able to locate the pg_path.

go to you server \ openerp-server.conf, file change the option pg_path = None to
pg_path =YOUR POSTGRESSQL PATH (example: pg_path = C: \ Program Files \ OpenERP 6.0 \ PostgreSQL \ bin)

Restart the server and try again .

Thanks

Hi Naresh,
We are able to backup and drop database after giving pg_path =
PATH\TO\POSTGRESSQL in conf file. But now the issue is we are not able to
restore the backed up database. It is restoring with no datas. We are
getting a blank database when it is restored. But when we restore this
database using "pg_restore.exe" the data are displaying.

The same for v6.0.2, from gtk the database restored is just a fresh minimal database with demo data (users : admin:admin and demo:demo).
The restore works works by using pg cmd.

Any update OPW team ?

I am also unable to backup my database using the windows client, however am running a linux server. The resulting backup file is of size zero bytes and as with those above, when restored contains minimal data.

The databse can not be backed up using the web interface either. Clicking the backup button brings the user back to the login page without performing a backup as would be expected.

I have the same issue.
It seems if your password in the .openerp_serverrc file is default "admin" then it works.
Obviously for security reasons you have to change this, but then the module does not seem to work.
The error seems to be:
"'AccessDenied: Invalid super administrator password. and INFO:backup:Could'nt backup database test_backup. Bad database administrator password for server running at http://localhost:8069"

Can something be changed in the code, or is it on the postgres side. I have seen comments about changing the .pgpass file but no luck for me on this yet.
Any ideas or solutions are more than welcome.
