[6.0 r 1750 RC2] install problems on OpenSuSE 11.3

it seems to have a few issues especially
* dashboard crashes without trace running from install directory
* setup.py tries to install some existing packages because merely of different (Ubuntu?) naming
- although I can not guarantee that all of this is necessary, but finally it works now

comment all install_requires in setup.py and make sure that these packages are installed using yast -
python-xml
python-tz
python-gtk
python-dateutil

if this does not help - upgrade to Gnome 2.32 from this repository
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/GNOME:/STABLE:/2.32/openSUSE_11.3/

please modify the setup for OpenSuSE 11.3 (BTW replacing the package names alone didn't help)
