Bug Description

IMHO if a search string is passed to m2o the search must be executed automatically - not by pressing search in the m2o widget

As commented on the commit message, it's still a proof of concept. I know it
has regressions using this flag, but we want to evaluate how much time we can
win in certain environments.

We tested the performance of "load on open = off" today using a slow line and the overall impression and usability seems to be good - if the issue mentioned in the bug report can be fixed - although I do not know if it is possible to distinguish between "search string which the users has entered" and "search stings which an action has created."

In our old system it was up to the programmer to deside which form should / should not automatically display results. Obviously this could be also achieved by server side logic something like "load on open if # records" < "user and/or form and/or connection type dependant value" ( I know - complex issue )

We think a lot of forms (product, partner, all invoices...) transfer date to the client, which the user never wants to see, creating
* load on server and network - giving the impression of a slow system
* possibly costs (mobile users without flatrate)

nevertheless
