missing startup window if server is not available

Bug Description
if the server is not available, koo seems to hang for 60 seconds (timeout) without showing a message.
IMHO the user should be informed that
* koo is trying to connect to server/
* the timeout left is xx seconds
* IMHO the user should get the chance to interrupt the waiting time.
