Bug Description

The term "picking" in OpenERP is used too broadly in OpenERP for logistic experts to understand the concept behind it.
It has been repeatedly reported that "picking" (or actually, "pick list") only relates to gathering goods before they are shipped.

So please :
- change "picking list" for something clearly generic, for example "logistic operation"
- change for something more specific when the context allows it :
  - gathering goods to be sent => "pick list" ( http://www.openerp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=4535&view=viewpoll )
  - internal moves => "transfer"
  - outgoing moves to customers => "shipping" or "delivery"
  - incoming moves => "reception"

IMHO this can wait until v6.0 is released but would greatly improve the usability of OpenERP.
Lionel.

In purchase module I find 13 sentences containing the words "picking" or "pick".
In purchases context it doesn't make sense.
I'm translating it as reception, it would be better that the original sentences where corrected.

tank you

We had a discssion (some years ago)
I try to resume
* picking list - what is needed in stock locations to prepare sending goods (commission) - based on this we get a packing list
* packing list - document which accopmany the goods (in / out)
* receipts - for incoming goods

please correct me if I am wrong

Agree with Ferdinand, although that'd be "Receipt", singular, to match "list" which is also singular. Also, "Reception" is incorrect as that is for people arriving somewhere; "Receipt" is for goods.

Scott Hamilton, author of "Maximizing your ERP System" and "Managing your supply chain using Microsoft Navision", uses the terms "Receipt", "Purchase Order Receipt" and "Purchase Receipt".

He also uses "Pick list" rather than "Picking list", although I am accustomed to "Picking...", and "Picking..." (rather than "Pick...") is more consistent with "Packing...".

So, to reiterate/summarise, I'd recommend:
* Picking list
* Packing list
* Receipt or Purchase Order Receipt or Purchase Receipt (to distinguish it from a Cash Receipt)
