Bug Description

Windows 7 32 bit. OpenLP configured to use VLC for video.

OpenLP 2.1.5 plays video fine with either VLC 2.0.3 or VLC 2.2.1 (32 bit versions)

OpenLP 2.1.6 however will only play the audio, the second screen remains black.
With VLC 2.0.3 installed, I see no errors on startup.
With VLC 2.2.1 (32 bit) I get lots of dialogs on OpenLP startup:
The procedure entry point vlc_fastmem_register could not be located in the dynamic link library libvlccore.dll.
The procedure entry point vlc_tls_ClientDelete could not be located in the dynamic link library libvlccore.dll.

Both versions of VLC will play video fine on the second screen if I run it independently.

On the same laptop, I hit the same problems on Windows 10. However I was not able to verify it worked OK in 2.1.5 on Windows 10 as I have since downgraded back to Windows 7. (I upgraded to 2.1.6 at the same time as Windows 10, and assumed Windows 10 was the cause of the problem)

Note however that on a different laptop (a 64bit one) with Windows 10, video with VLC 2.2.1 32bit works fine in OpenLP 2.1.6.

I google'd the error message a bit and a complete removal and re-install of VLC (32-bit) should fix this issue.

OK I'll try removing all trace when next at Church, but I'm not sure why it currently works fine in OpenLP 2.1.5 and below, but not in 2.1.6?

OK, I've uninstalled VLC and reinstalled it. The error messages at startup have gone away, yay!

However in OpenLP 2.1.6 I'm still sadly only getting a blank screen when playing the video, I only hear the audio.
2.1.5 continues to display the video fine.
(I've also tried installing 2.1.6 into a clean folder, with the same outcome)

Hello Jonathan and sorry for all the trouble you are having with video playback!

These things can be tricky sometimes, I installed OpenLP 2.1.6 and vlc 2.2.1 32 bit for 64
bit Windows 8.1 and it works for me.

Could you try changing the output module/overlay settings for vlc as suggested in here?

|Advanced Re-installing instructions|
1. Uninstall VLC media player, be sure to check “Delete preferences and cache”.
2. Start OpenLP, see that vlc is un-ticked in player settings, close OpenLP.
3. Un-install OpenLP.
4. Re-start the computer.
4. Re-Install VLC media player.
5. Re-Install OpenLP 2.1.6.
6. Start OpenLP, go te player settings, tick VLC and move it up in the players load order.
7. Re-start OpenLP.
7. Try the video playback.

Thank you for all the effort, I hope this fixes playback problems for you!
If not, please let us know so we can think of something else!
