to just record a time without a date we should have a

 'from' : fields.time

definition

it is not defined anywhere -
IMHO it's a missing data type in OpenERP
time is available in postgres.
IMHO currently it is not possible to store a duration in minutes/hours etc as time but only as character

in the object: fields.float
In the view: widget="float_time".
As an example, used in timesheets.
