Bug Description

regression

the new web client does not allow to enter from_date to_date dates in the search widget (as it was always and is still possible in GTK)

Example Bill Task Work
try to select all to bill of last month

it is possible to do with advanced filter, but it is cumberson......

What is often missing is a search for periods - most reporting is done by periods

This is a design decision taken during the development process of the client, if ranges are needed the view should be built for ranges (using custom domains).

IMHO a wrong decision

I rarely see the need to select data of only ONE day and this could be easily
achieved with the "old" from - to widget

IMHO not consistent...why gtk works one way and web works other way... + with the two fields was possible to do both searches, with one for us is pretty useless...

Say you want to search expire dates...you have to go day by day ie nightmare

We have created a new module 'web_searchdaterange' which will add this functionality, this can be found in lp:credativ-openerp for anyone still interested in this.

It will seamlessly replace all date and datetime fields within any search view with two fields which can be used as follows:
* Fill in date 1 only: >= date1
* Fill in date 2 only: <= date2
* Fill in both dates: >= date 1 && <= date2

Thanks
Craig

FYI, I've enhanced credativ's "web_searchdaterange" module to re-introduce range search for date, datetime and floats fields.

The module can be found here: https://github.com/Smile-SA/smile_openerp_addons_6.1/tree/master/web_smile_search_range

Definitely wrong decision. We do search views over graphs. What's the point of using a graph if you can't view over time?

Also, I tried the above two modules, but I couldn't get it to work for my search views attached to graphs.

Very bad decision! Date range is a must! I can't believe that you don't think it is necessary. If you don't think it is necessary why is it still available in GTK client? :)
