Bug Description

The file is uploaded but database entry is not created and clipart is not visible in your clipart list. I enable errors and there aren't any. I try from Chrome and FireFox (as librarian user).

Having the same problem on my end. The form states,

but that is not the name of the file. lol
The file does not show up on my clip art list.

I think that this is server issue, but it's strange because it don't affect all other people.

Chris did you upload from librarian account or normal one? Because I try librarian and I didn't tested on normal.

Chris Plaza (cplaza) wrote :

I'm not a librarian, I only have a regular user account.

I will try again today and see what happens. It is a random event, and by one getting frustrated, you just keep trying to upload it one more time, and still does not work. lol

I even cleared the browser cache at one point, to no avail. I realised that it is probably why the form gives the filename a computer generated number for the file name, as you are trying to upload the same file from a supposedly failed attempt, yet no error were reported. During the 3 attempts. The form claimed that the file uploaded successfully in all 3 attempts, but it did not show up anywhere, this includes the generated numbered file.

The script for upload must have a logic error somewhere. I think it might be where it handles conflict of a file that is being uploaded with the same name. Perhaps it is the rules on what to do when this conflicts occurs that need be checked, and modified.

The scripts should not be giving a numbered file, it defeats the purpose of a person wasting time to be naming files upon upload. If a conflict is encountered all previous versions should be purged from the database, especially if it happening during the same session, ie why would you be trying 3 attempts?....logic dictates either you are crazy..lol....or file did not get processed properly...purge previous attempts and start over.

If the scripts gets to the line where it reports to the user.

Yet the file does not show up, indicates to me a logic error.

Logged in this morning, the clipart that I tried to upload yesterday does not appear anywhere.

Ok tried again, I tried uploading the "No Sopa by Merlin2525.svg" file with the same results as yesterday.

Hi there,

I am going through the same scenario decribed by Merlin2525. The name on my file simarly uploads as 1327499947.svg, but then does not appear under my cliparts. I have not been exposed to this issue in the past.

Thanks for looking at it ;)

I just succeed uploading my file (with a different computer, Xubuntu 11.10). However, then I could not make any other edits...such as title change, etc. I could to do this, though, with the former computer using Ubuntu 10.10.

Oh well, good luck on finding out what is happening ;)

I just found that I can't comment on clipart either.

On Friday Feb 3 2012 I was able to upload 3 clip arts.
Here I thought, great they fixed it!

Unfortunately, the fourth clip art does not show up.

Back to square one. I'm running Ubuntu 10.10 and Firefox 9.0.1. in case that helps .

I think that whole database is not responding because I couldn't comment on a clipart.

Hello everyone, I think I just noticed something. The same whole scenario happened again on my Ubuntu 10.10. I uploaded a file and nothing appeared. Alright, I fired the following command "rm -i /media/disk/.mozilla/firefox/0tadqice.default/urlclassifier* " and then about 1 minute later I could upload, as well as add any text I wanted to.
You may be able to remove this manually, the urlclassifier file appears in some cases pretty big; mines was about 30 MB.

It now works for me ;)

I don't think if this is the case, beacause I use Chrome but on Ubuntu 10.10 too. And in my case it's something with server, I think, because the file is uploaded correctly it's on the server, in /people/<ME> directory, but data is not added to database, the same case is when I try to comment (comment is not added to database).

Dan Sciboz (dsciboz-l) wrote :

Jakub, I am trying to picture the pocess; I think you are right. If the file gets to the server, then it seems that the issue cannot source from one's own computer...However, I am still wondering why it worked after cleaning the urlclassifier file. Does this file interact with the process...or is it actually unrelated....

Best,

Cibo

Why 3.2, I can't fix any other bug before I can upload clipart, this should be first bug that is fixed.

If you want to, go for it. I just want to get this release out bad along
with our other stuff :)

I was able to upload 4 cliparts , the 5th one Feraliminal_Skull_Remix_2_by_Merlin2525 did load, but I deleted in Myclipart section of the website. The png was not being properly generated on the website, I did some modifications to the image, and attempted to upload it. Same scenario started happening, it says successfuly uploaded but it is not visible.

I then went on one of my laptops. It is running Ubuntu 11.10. I even changed the name of the file and this is what I get.

Please note that only svg files can be uploaded

The problem is intermittent and weird, hopefully it will be fixed soon. Could someone put the Skull Remix 3 online? I will just go back to work on some clip art, but will stop uploading until this is fixed.

I've noticed, that if you upload some clipart, and then deleting it and
reupload under same name it is failed.
But name changing (and possible title aswell) helped me to fight this
problem.
Something weird with database mechanics I suppose.

Cheers,
Oleg
