Bug Description

The svg files in the package are missing the metadata tags.

For example, if I look at "bacon" by Johnny Automatic, the web page shows a lot of metadata:

These, and the license, can be embedded in the SVG, as they are for

Could the metadata be embedded in the file either when it is uploaded, when it is offered for download, or when it is packaged?

Also, It may be worth removing some of the metadata from the file
public_domain: is given by the license
image , png , svg: are obvious from the file type.

Alternatively, can the meta-data itself be exported in the package so that people who want it can access it?

This is a wishlist item. Yes, we should allow for filtering the clipart and adding this.

I would argue the best strategy is to make a sidecar RDF file that is autogenerated as a companion for the clipart as a first step, then would need some process to clean the file, keep the original, and then add in the updated metadata when a file is updated.

Something like: http://wiki.creativecommons.org/Sidecar_File

That sounds reasonable. Having the metadata separate means we can
change it without having to worry about whether it counts a remix or
not. If the file is an XMP Sidecar File then it can be directly
embedded in the SVG (and even PNG)

I can write a specification/description but can't take the time to
delve into aiki at the moment.
